Dear colleague,
In light of the current uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic, the Euroson 2020 Local Organizing Committee has made the very difficult and unprecedented decision to cancel the upcoming Euroson 2020, that was to be held 11th-13th of June 2020 in Bergen, Norway.
The Norwegian Society of Ultrasound and Diagnostics (NFUD), The Norwegian National Advisory Unit on Ultrasound in Gastroenterology (NCUG)
and SonoScandinavia are devastated by this decision. However, we see it as the only viable option given the predominant disruption and uncertainty caused by the current pandemic.
Our decision was made in accordance with the Norwegian Government’s mandate for all non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people to be cancelled, and especially warning of gatherings that include health care professionals.
It is heartbreaking to us all that we will not be able to welcome you to Euroson 2020 in Bergen, and we would like to thank you for your efforts- they have not been wasted.
As a consequence of the cancellation NFUD and NCUG stand before a significant economic loss.
We still do not have all answers to practicalities concerning refund of tickets purchased.
As a first step we would recommend you reach out to your transporting company or insurance company for refund of tickets.
In the weeks to follow, our PCO and we hope to have more specific advice concerning practicalities, and we ask for your understanding and appreciate your patience.
Furthermore, we are working on potential alternatives for all of you that have submitted abstracts, and we will update you if, and as soon as we have found a solution and concluded with our collaborating partners.
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee we deeply regret any inconvenience and disappointment caused by cancellation of Euroson 2020, and we share your disappointment.
However, we believe this is the most responsible course of action to protect the health and well-being of attendees and the patients they serve, presenters, exhibitiors, staff,
vendors and all those engaged in the conference. The safety and health of you will always be our first priority.
We have been overwhelmed by the interest in this years’ event and we would like to thank our colleagues on the Local Organizing Committee and the respective program planning committees for all the hard work and effort dedicated to this meeting over the past 3 years.
